Talkspace is a mobile (and web) based online therapy app which provides counselling to people experiencing a vast range of issues including:
- Stress
- Anxiety
- Relationships
- Depression
- Trauma
- PTSG
- Anger management
- LGBTQIA+ matters
- Grief
Talkspace offers counseling for individuals, couples, or teens. Additionally, they offer psychiatry services, including medical care and prescription medication management from licensed psychiatrists and licensed therapists.
This service gives you power in choosing a therapist. During the initial questionnaire that shows up after you select an option from the home page under “What type of service are you looking for?” you are able to list out your counselor preferences as well as what issues you’re hoping to tackle, and how important it is that your counselor be well versed in those topics.
You’re given three options to choose from, with descriptions of their qualifications, counseling styles and schedule type.
If you don’t like them, you can be given another three to choose from, and so on, until you find the right fit. An agent is available to text you and help you through the process.
Once you are matched with your therapist, you will have access to your own room where you can message or leave an audio message of up to five minutes in length for your therapist. While these messages are not live-chats, you are guaranteed a response from your therapist at least once a day, five days per week.
Talspace offer a variety of communication methods available for communicating with your therapist including:
- Live chat
- 24/7 online messaging (your therapist will respond when they’re next online)
- Video conferencing
If your subscription includes live sessions, you can easily schedule them with your therapist on your client portal page online or in the app. If your plan doesn’t include live sessions—or you want additional sessions—you can also purchase live sessions for a fee. Once they’re paid for, you can schedule it online or in-app as well.
Pros
- Compatible with some insurance plans
